The Mayan Train will begin selling tickets on December 1, according to AMLO

The Mayan Train will begin selling tickets on December 1, to be inaugurated in the middle of said month, reported President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

AMLO stated on November 6 during his morning press conference at the National Palace that the tickets will cost 10% less than the cost for which bus tickets are sold.

Likewise, he reiterated that on the same date the Tulum Airport will be inaugurated, whose construction was carried out at the same time as the Mayan Train.

Finally, he pointed out that on February 29, 2024, “the entire system” of the work that has been emblematic of his administration will be inaugurated.

The Mayan Train is one of the priority projects of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, whose plan is to build more than 1,500 kilometers of railway in five states in the southeast of the country: Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.

AMLO and his government have argued that the work will allow the transportation of goods and the mobilization of people, as well as the socioeconomic and tourist development of the region.

At the beginning of September, the first test route with passengers was carried out and operations on the first section are scheduled to officially begin on December 1.
