Formula 1 Cancun Grand Prix

Antonio Pérez Garibay, father of Mexican Formula 1 driver Sergio “Checo” Pérez, spoke about the project that leads the Cancun Grand Prix. He began by explaining the investment to achieve the most important thing: The Circuit. "The first stage is to secure 2025, the investment is around 400 to 600 million dollars to build the entire stage," he shared with EL UNIVERSAL Deportes. The signature that Pérez Garibay seeks to achieve is a relationship that places them on the Formula 1 calendar from 2025 to 2030, for this reason in his meeting with Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula 1, he promised him a great experience:

“It will be the best Grand Prix in the world and in the history of Formula 1”... “There are interested businessmen, both landowners and investors, we are creating an international economic fund”. -Antonio Pérez Garibay

Pérez Garibay announced that the construction zone has already been selected, it is only in a readjustment to protect the nature of Quintana Roo.

“We are respecting the first project, there was a problem because one of the straights could touch one of the mangroves, now, they are relocating so as not to have any problem with the mangroves”. -Antonio Pérez Garibay

His son, Sergio 'Checo' Pérez and the Red Bull team have given Antonio support for the planning. Something that is not easy because it took 30 years for the Mexican Grand Prix to return. Pérez Garibay affirmed that he will soon meet with the governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinosa, but first he met with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

“I already talked about it with the President of the Republic, the first thing he told me is that there are no resources, that I don't need them, I'm getting them from businessmen and that's how this Grand Prix could be carried out, besides, the economic benefit would be very big for the country”. -Antonio Pérez Garibay
